Produce update

Over the past few months, we have experienced irregular weather conditions that have not been seen in our growing regions in decades. Ranging from heat waves and fires to hail storm and flooding.

All this resulting in our produce getting affected in not only quality but pricing as well.

We strive to do our best to provide the best quality produce available, please be patient as we work through this difficult time.

Currently USA Navel fruit have a much better appearance and flavour so we will continue to use this variety. The Local Valencia fruit is ideal for juicing as it has a beautiful sweet taste, the outside skin may have a green tinge, but this is the way the fruit protects itself from the Australia sun.

We are now starting to see more volume of green skinned Shepard Avocadoes from Queensland entering the Market. We have decided to continue using New Zealand Hass as they are the preferred option due to the superior taste, we will make the change over to Shepard variety once they become better value.

Unfortunately we are in the middle of a growing gap right now. This is resulting in higher than normal prices expected for the red and yellow varieties. South Australia is currently the only state suppling the Country, keeping up with demand is a real struggle at the moment.

Broccoli is also going through a gap in its growing cycle. This will continue until we see the next full moon in a couple of weeks. A great alternative to use on your menu in the meantime is Broccolini, this great vegetable has a sweeter taste then broccoli.

The season is coming to an end very quickly, Kensington pride have now finished and the Keitt varieties are in their last week. This is only leaving the Brooks variety left to purchase. For all the mango lovers out there, spring will be the next time we see them available to purchase.

Finally some great news for apple supply, most varieties have started their new season. Royal gala, Golden Delicious and this week we started our Local Harcourt new season Fuji's. With only the Pink Lady variety to come which should start in the first week of April.

New season William Pears are in great supply. Something to remember is that they will continue to ripen after being picked.
