Market Report June 3rd 2020

Fresh market update: Wednesday 3rd - Tuesday 9th of June 2020

Product Report

This week we will recap on a few seasonal changes and give an update on our most popular produce.

We reported last week that we are currently experiencing a shortage in Strawberries that will continue into the Winter months. Local Victorian fruit is in its last week, but in limited numbers and we are seeing shelf life of this fruit shorten due to the cold weather and quality. Queensland fruit has started, but the volume of produce isn't sufficient enough to start full supply into Victoria. We are expecting the situation to improve in coming weeks.

Baby Spinach

With the effects of some very cold and inconsistent weather over the past month, baby spinach has become very hard to source. Our major farm Riviera Farms are out for 2 weeks putting pressure on volume in the market.

Is one of the top performing fruit ranges with Lemons, Limes and Mandarins all great buying. Navel Oranges and now Daisy Mandarins from our local Barham farm, Eagle Farms, are getting better eating by the day. Store in a fruit bowl for up to 2 weeks or to extend the life of the fruit by storing it in the fridge.

Cooler nights in South Australia are beginning to affect Cucumber crops which is hampering supply. Due to scarcity, we are experiencing price rises. Again, we expect this shortage to continue into the Winter months. Green cucumbers are near impossible to source.

This Week's Top Pick!
