Market Report January 29th 2020

Pineapple

Fresh market update: Wednesday 29th - Tuesday 4th of February 2020

Product update

Weather conditions and the consequence of recent fires continue to have an impact on our availability and pricing. Over the next couple of weeks, we will keep you up to date on what produce is being affected.

Mushrooms

This week we have started to experience a National mushroom shortage due to a spawn contamination in one of the largest Mushroom farms, this shortage is expected to last for four weeks. Wild mushrooms are also very hard to source due to being affected by the recent fires and heat.

Berries

Coffs Harbour Blueberries and Raspberries season is nearly finished so we are about to change over to Victoria and Tasmania. Once this happens expect to see a jump in price.

Chillies

The price on Long Red Chillies have risen due to new season South Australians crops being effected by the heat resulting in supply slowing right down.

Beans

Constant high temperatures and water issues continue to play havoc with supply, prices remain extremely high.

Pumpkin

All varieties are experiencing extreme shortages and prices are now extremely high, processed pumpkin will also be affected so expect price to jump dramatically.

Coriander

Is extremely short as it has now gone to seed which we will start to see a shortage in supply.

Melons

Some good news, the melon varieties including Watermelon, Rockmelon and Honeydew are thriving in this heat which makes for great eating and pricing.
